The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings To begin with: Of course I reread it prompted by the film. This almost amounts to a childhood book revisited. I read it in the first years after it appeared in this country, in the 60s or 70s, and no doubt (because it was the custom) read it more than once. My wife went through it a couple of times as well. I was there the first time somebody named their pottery or airbrush studio "Rivendell." So I don't speak as a newcomer to the work. How much would a full-bore review of LOTR be worth to you? Didn't think so. Instead, I've collected a few notes on the book: Click here to view my notes on language in The Lord of the Rings.
