A lucky stroke (plus several hours of bending over). The window and door trim have a solid, conservative, civic look for this solid, conservative, civic jury. The corners are store-bought rosette blocks with some thickness added; the side and top moldings are made of fluted "screen" molding applied to 1x6 stock. These combine quite well with the fluted base molding and the coved crown molding. I bet Habitat never dreamed their old sash window could look this good. It's a pity we had to make it work less well than it originally did; the jury members are supposed to have trouble getting the window to stay open. Update, March 5, Year 4: In a book about trim I found that this treatment has a name: Victorian Bellyband Casing. And in scouring the building materials outlets we also discovered that these particular rosettes are not store-bought but were made for Town & Gown. (They are turned from 1x6 lumber.) Rick kindly made some additional rosettes for the next production, Bedroom Farce, which reused these casings and had an extra door.
