The Town & Gown production of Tom Stoppard's comedy If you came to see the photos, here they are. I directed T&G's production of what has become a classic―a play I consider at the very peak of Stoppard's work and one of the best scripts of the 20th century. Performances took place December 5-6 and 11-13 at 8 p.m. and December 7 and 14 at 2 p.m. The Town & Gown web site tells all about tickets, reservations and driving directions. Auditions took place on October 6 and 7, 2008. These details on auditions and casting are obsolete, but I'll leave them up all the same. I invented Good Game and used it on audition nights with good results. Here is a one-page PDF with a description of the game. I recommend it as an energy-builder. The auditions brought out a large number of very good people. Here's an account of the cast. I'm quite proud of the production staff for this show. No personal details here, but a suggestive list of their achievements in what they will all undoubtedly call their "pre-Arcadia period" when they get around to writing their memoirs. As we begin to put the set, costumes and props together, I'll document our progress here. Here is a long collection of notes that may be useful to you as you research the play and get a production ready. You can also find current T&G information by visiting the company's Facebook page. Over at the right you see links to a collection of other web pages I've created on a range of topics. Just feel free to lose yourself in the site. Thank you for visiting, and I look forward to seeing you at the playhouse. Ben Teague |
