Biloxi Blues images
Eric did the set design. Hope needed to change quickly between a dozen or so locales, including a car in a troop train, a barracks, a sluttery and several others. Biloxi Blues in this respect is pretty close to a blackout comedy, a style where you don't build a set as such but you create small units that can move in and out as needed. The first photos in this series showed the wagon; here are the smaller units. They can become two-decker bunks, tables, and bench seats (plus overhead rack) in a railcar. Quite intricate. Frankly, they were too heavy and numerous to allow the quick changes the show demanded. But ingenious.
