Crimes of the Heart images
So Harriet says can I go to the Habitat store with her, because her husband's out of town with their pickup truck. So we're rolling down Chase Street and she almost stands up in the cab, "I see it! It's perfect! Hurry up before someone buys it!" What she's spotted is this Beauty Queen brand kitchen sink/counter unit standing out in the yard. The photo shows it partway through the cleaning process; it appears the previous owner kept it outdoors as a home for chipmunks or a potting table or something. Stuart is rigging the plumbing; at right center of the backsplash you can see the water supply hose. Stuart has a History with plumbing onstage. For a production of Much Ado about Nothing a few years ago, his design required not only a porch swing, a deck and a set of concrete benches but also a working fountain. Oh, and grass. At the time I was head of Town & Gown's facilities committee, and I raised every kind of objection to the design: Stuart, watering the grass will cause the stage to rot. Stuart, you can get the fountain effect with Mylar and no running water. Stuart, the weight of the concrete fountain and companion benches will collapse the entire deck. Stuart, when you turn the fountain on, half the audience will discover they need to pee. The last objection was right, but the stage came through just fine. I expect it will this time too.
