View of the set on September 5

Work with me, now. The draperies have been reefed up so we could paint the floor, which means you are seeing background material you aren't meant to know about. The most distracting items are the brightly lighted prop cabinet to the right of center and the stonework painted on the back wall for I Hate Hamlet. Nathan, with his wonderful color sense, painted the tile effect on the floor. There's a stove, though I'm not sure it will turn out to be the stove. The counter unit that runs at right angles to the sink is way in the foreground, having just been painted the same color as other woodwork. The refrigerator hasn't come in, the cot (which you saw on the first page of photos) is too long, and there is some unhappiness about the lack of newel posts at the bottom of the stairs. Old Granddaddy's door still lacks its shutter, but behind the sink you can see Andy and perhaps Geneviève painting that piece for later installation. The draperies were incomplete even before we retracted them, and the floor is just that tiny bit too vivid. All these points will be dealt with before the show opens on September 17.
