Look Homeward, Angel photos
Poor Paul had to play the ukulele. In the dark. He's in the highest part of the back row, with glasses and bow tie. Paul could hang a door or paint a set, but on the ukulele he was not quite finished with Page 1 of the instruction book and strummed an unconvincing "My Dog Has Fleas" during the scene change. In the cast/crew photo above, besides leggy Shannon and some techie, you see Cathy at extreme left dressed as the "Madam." Her character had to go to the tombstone maker when one of her girls passed away; she selected a "little lyin'-down lamb" for the monument. We had the most harrowing and far-reaching search for a stone lamb and ended up substituting for it: a plush lamb sprayed with "stone paint" and glued to the top of an inverted styrofoam cooler. It could have worked, too, except that Cathy every night gave her maudlin speech, looked soulfully at the lamb, then pressed down in the middle of its back so that the legs splayed out. It's hard not to think she enjoyed it.
