Once Upon a Mattress cast photos
I served as stage manager and took a leading part in putting up the set. Any multi-set show is a headache, and this one had some . . . special features. But the cast gave good performances and the show was a hit. Here you see the cast and crew. I don't see Patrick the A.S.M. in there. Patrick was an excellent low-key crew member. When a kid in the cast almost eighty-sixed himself by running under a heavy piece of moving scenery, I looked across at Patrick in the opposite wing. He just popped his eyebrows once. Phlegmatic, that's the word I was looking for.
The cast, just the other way around. Our regular patrons in the lobby got a jolt when the company went into preshow exercises: Thanks to Jill and Stacy and one or two others, they had voted in "The Dreidel Song" for the warmup piece, and they sang it in their outdoor voices.
