Post Mortem images
I began the design with the words "castle" and "Hudson River" in mind. Windowless old place built out of gray stone, with Gothic arches even in places where they weren't needed. Almost every detail got improved as we went along, but the one thing that survived from the scale model (shown at left) was the biggest surprise it contained: the illusion of tremendous depth as you look through the big Up Left arches and see the smaller ones beyond the little lobby. Unfortunately Scalemaid® is standing in the way here.
You can make out in this overhead view of the model how shallow the lobby really is: hallway width. Compare the first model view with the next image, which shows the completed set.
