Private Lives images

View on April 30

Yes, the color of the walls has changed from the previous week. Firecracker was a little too orange, even viewed under Stuart's ancient Gro-Light fluorescents. I believe this one is called Apple-A-Day, with China Doll trim. You see (left to right) Anna, David and director Amy.

We got the cornice and all but a few bits of the base trim in place. Can you tell which flats lift out to allow the Act 1 curtain to pass through the walls?

A very hard-working cast. David and Anna have taken part in all our set calls; Julia, Brad, Stacie, Amy and assistant director Teddy in all but one or so. Tom can't stay away from the theater on weekends, and a few hours after I made this photo he announced that he'd designed the Act 1 railing that goes on the lip of the stage.

Good news about the lighting: Don (set designer for The Devil's Disciple) has allowed two of his design students, Clark and James, to do the plot for Private Lives. They began by working up an inventory and measuring all the lighting positions, and they should be ready to hang and focus next weekend. Yes, James is the same James who did so much of the DD scenic painting.

Our quite full schedule for May 7 calls for building and painting the rail, hanging two doors in the left and right openings, putting up trim on the doors and the new window, painting the corridor (behind the upstage door) and the sky (behind the window), doing a lot of touchup, and installing soft masking for backstage light control.
