It's always exciting to start a new project, especially with an ample budget for building it. Well, "ample" is relative, of course; this set will come in at around $1200. We had a good crew on Saturday and Sunday, June 25 and 26. John and Geneviève and Gary and Michael and Speedy and three or four others—people with good skills and not much to do on a pleasant summer weekend.
What you see in the photo at right is where we stopped Sunday. The level is ready to go except for its railing. Two door units are finished and ready for their shutters, and three others are framed. We put the unfinished units up so the cast could rehearse with them; on your right, they are not the ones that eventually will stand there, but good enough for the next week. The onstage stairs are done, and the offstage escape units (invisible) are in place.
