Director Hope should stop reading right here. I was fairly confident this was going to work, but not really sure till we got the walls stood up. A fine weekend's work, with good crews both days and terrific contributions from Gary, who installed all the door hardware.
As you work from left to right in the photos, you see the "powder room" door, the outside door, the picture window, then on the level the doors to Charley's room, the guest room and the other bedroom wing, next the kitchen door (a "cat-killer" or double-swing door) and the basement door. No cat was harmed in the making of this set.
You see two of Cat's children in the first picture: red-shirted Matt crouching in the foreground and Sarah looking in through the window. In the time it took me to swing the camera around, Matt got into full motion and made a second appearance. It was right after the second photo that he walked up and said, "I'm ready for my closeup now."
Our third weekend will have to see a handrail on the level and steps, some furniture moved in, a good deal of dutchman and painting, and some masking behind the window and doors. I haven't seen the paint chips yet, but Hope promises they will come. The railing design is troubling me, as railings always do; no two sets call for the same kind. This one will look simple and—I hope—will benefit from the way each segment of railing strengthens all the others.
