I'd be unfaithful to my heritage if I didn't start out by saying how much more we have to do before this set is ready for opening night. Goodness, what a very great deal of work is left: The window may want to have a stool molding, there's a gap in the masking behind the No. 7 door, and the director needs a marble effect on the floor. I still hope to plant a "conversation piece" inside the front door. Under the Stage Left corner of the big level is a dump of scrap lumber and tools. And I have to repaint the safety escape landings because the edges have become blurred.
Rumors opens July 29 for a two-weekend run. With such a fine cast, it should be fun to watch. Prepare the kids for some harsh language, though.
