The Taming of the Shrew
by William Shakespeare
Town & Gown Players, 2004-5 Second Stage season

Fran likes the Second Stage arrangement. The lower budget means both less money at risk and less temptation to board members to fiddle with the show. Town & Gown rules permit casting without auditions, so that the director can form a real unit and doesn't have to wait till seven or eight weeks before opening to get rehearsals under way. With only three performances, a popular or venturesome play can sell out the house and reap big surpluses.

So she proposed an adaptation of Shrew to close the 2004-5 season. I'll design the set. You can see some pix from the show.

You can find some background information, a script in PDF form, and a scrapbook of rehearsal pix on Fran's production web site. I strongly recommend checking it out.
