Curious about the "six degrees" concept? John Guare worked the idea that any two people can link to each other through no more than six others; I know 1, who knows 2, ..., who knows 6, who knows you. That isn't a rigorous law but an observation about how human beings organize themselves. For my own take on it, click here to read a note on two useful books.
