The Tempest images
Here is what designer Tom describes as an early concept sketch for The Tempest. It will make that ground plan (preceding page) easier to understand. In a later version of the design (the one we're building), the surface of the island downstage is leveled out (no tilted geological strata) and a good deal more of the buried racetrack is visible.
You can see that rather sinister tree upstage and its rather sinister mate downstage with the sorcerer's book of charms. The "hand" of the downstage tree will seem to grip the edge of the racetrack, I think.
